The story of Pink Ink Promise Foundation members involvement with the American Cancer Society is one of organic growth, trusted partnership, and a deepening commitment to impact. What began as heartfelt participation in community walks and local activations steadily evolved into something far more influential. Our members did not just show up. They stepped in. From forming dedicated teams and raising critical funds to supporting integrated marketing, promotional, and advertising campaigns, Pink Ink Tattoo and Pink Ink Promise Foundation members became an active force helping shape how these events reached and resonated with the community. That influence was felt in meaningful ways, including helping transition the Making Strides in the Triangle experience from Fenton to the iconic Durham Bulls Athletic Park, elevating both visibility and community engagement.
As involvement deepened, so did the roles our members were entrusted with. Pink Ink Promise Foundation representatives like Tara Williamson became key speakers, sharing powerful stories of survivorship and restoration, while also participating as a model in multiple fashion shows that celebrated resilience and confidence. In 2025, Alex Williamson served as emcee for the Making Strides event alongside Bill Young and Brea Hollingsworth, marking a milestone moment that reflected both leadership and presence within the movement. The event itself drew significant recognition, with attendance from the CEO of the American Cancer Society and the Mayor of Durham, further underscoring the scale and significance of the collaboration.
Beyond the flagship walks, Pink Ink Promise Foundation’s involvement extended across a wide spectrum of community-driven initiatives. From Duke Cancer Center Survivorship Day to local kickoff celebrations like Zinc Winery gatherings, to coastal outreach through the Pink Tides event in Wilmington, our presence remained consistent and impactful. Members also helped amplify these efforts through appearances on local news networks, ensuring broader awareness and participation. This commitment to advocacy even reached into the sports world, partnering in initiatives like Hockey Fights Cancer with the Carolina Hurricanes and the National Hockey League or with Relay for Life's Crucial Catch with the National Football League's Carolina Panthers.
Through every step of this journey, Pink Ink Promise Foundation has not only supported the mission of the American Cancer Society but has helped expand its reach, energy, and voice within the community. It is a testament to what happens when passion meets purpose and when service evolves into leadership.
